    Discover what Osteopathy is

Osteopathy is a Manual Medicine that focuses on the person in his or her bio-psycho-social essence. The osteopathic vision is therefore a global vision that takes into account:

    • the visceral – metabolic aspect
    • the structural aspect,
    • the emotional – spiritual aspect
    •  and the environment surrounding the patient.

Osteopathy can therefore develop a treatment by going to the cause of the problem and not focusing on the symptom, based on the triangle of health.

Osteopathy accompanies the patient on his path to health, considering both physical and psychic – emotional aspect, through hygienic – dietetic advice, through emotional fascial techniques, or through structural, fluidic and biodynamic techniques.

How does an Osteopathic session work?

The process always starts with a thorough ANAMNESIS where the osteopath asks questions in order to understand the reactive state of the patient’s neurovegetative system and to understand the underlying cause of this reaction. The Therapist also excludes problems of a medical nature for which the intervention of the competent figure is required.

    • then different tests are carried out: neurological, orthopaedic, kinesiological and osteopathic tests to understand the priority of the patient’s body
    • based on the tests, treatment is then conducted and the patient is made aware of the results
    • at the end, any advice or exercises can be given that can be comfortably done at home
    • depending on the type of problem and how long the underlying cause has been active, 2 to 4 osteopathy sessions may be necessary

    Who can visit an Osteopath?

    Osteopathy for Adults

Osteopathy is a preventive therapy for adults that aims to stimulate the body’s physiological self-healing process. Osteopathy can in some cases solve the problem and in others be supportive in improving quality of life and well-being. Osteopathy is useful in cases of:

    • metabolic problems: gastro-oesophageal reflux, constipation and abdominal bloating
    • Headaches and migraines
    • Visual disorders
    • Osteo-articular and muscular pain
    • lumbago, cervicalgia and disc herniation
    • postural problems
    • disorders of the jaw and dental sphere
    • treatment of scars
    • In some cases, the addition of flower therapy may be proposed with the patient’s consent
    • Some pains may be of an emotional nature; somatoemotional treatments are possible with the patient’s consent

Osteopathy for Pregnancy and Post Partum

Osteopathy in pregnancy is useful to support women during the nine months of gestation where many postural and hormonal changes occur. Pregnancy is a wonderful physiological disorder and therefore osteopathy can help with problems such as:

    • low back pain
    • education in diaphragmatic breathing
    • preparation for childbirth
    • emotional states with the possible help of flower therapy with the patient’s consent
    • sacroiliitis and pelvic pain
    • advice on postural exercises
    • chronic fatigue
    • support in postnatal depression
    • rebalancing the pelvic floor postpartum
    • postpartum breathing advice and exercises
    • treatment of caesarean section scars

    Pediatric Osteopathy

Paediatric osteopathy is synonymous with prevention. Very often we do not think about the fact that children during pregnancy, birth, hospital treatment, undergo stress, which can cause symptoms such as reflux, irritation, hiccups and colic.

Osteopathic treatment is all the more effective, the earlier it is given, so that the dysfunction does not really set in.

    Usually, the recommended appointments are:

    • within the first month of the baby’s life, especially after more ‘difficult’ deliveries.
    • if there are no particular problems requiring other treatment, a second visit around 6/7 months is recommended, an age that coincides with the start of weaning and sitting.
    • a third visit around two months after the child has started to walk.

Paediatric osteopathic treatment is recommended for:

    • difficulty sleeping
    • colic and reflux
    • irritability
    • difficulty in reaching motor milestones (rolling over, sitting, crawling, walking).
